Mr. Melvin Edward Carter, age 75, was called to eternal rest Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at his residence in Cooleemee, North Carolina. Born May 2, 1950 in Davie County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Willie Gray and Cora Louise Fowler Carter.
He was educated in the Davie County public schools, graduating from Davie County High School in 1968. He enjoyed the outdoors and took great pride in mowing and landscaping his lawn. If he wasn't working in the yard, you could find him tinkering around, fixing his vehicle and any other vehicle whose owner needed help. When he wasn't outside working, he was inside relaxing, cheering on the North Carolina State Wolfpack basketball teams or telling the coach of the San Francisco 49er's what to do to guarantee a win!
Fun-loving, Melvin lived life to the fullest and always offered a helping hand to his fellowman.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by a brother, Willie J. Carter.
Survivors who will cherish Melvin's memory are his loving and devoted wife, Wanda R. Carter of the home; son, Brandon Chad (Rae) Carter of Charlotte, North Carolina; a daughter, Latavia Ruffin of Midway, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Bryce Carter and Mikiah Ruffin; a sister, Rosa Allen of Woodleaf, North Carolina; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Steelman of Woodleaf, North Carolina, Sandra Ijames of Harmony, North Carolina, Tanja Bellamy and Priscilla Cockerham, both of Statesville, North Carolina; best friends: Fuzz, Bunk, Walt, Leo and Orlando; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
We loved "Melvin" and he will be missed. Although his presence is no longer of this earth, his memory will forever remain in our hearts until we meet again.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel, in Mocksville, North Carolina at 2:00 PM with a visitation at 1:30 PM. Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Roberts Funeral Service (Mocksville) from 1:00 PM-5:00 PM.
