Melvin Gandy, 77, of Midway community, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2017.

Funeral service will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Righteous Church of God with family visitation a half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Saints Delight Holiness Church.

Public viewing will be Thursday from 1:00–7:00p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service, Lexington.

Melvin was born in Darlington, South Carolina. He is the son of the late Calhoun and Ida Mae Gandy. He was a self-taught entrepreneur with many titled businesses. He retired from his landscaping business.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mazie Y. Gandy; two daughters: Sandra (Rodney) Quick and Wanda (John) Quick; four sons: Melvin Jr. Gandy, Teddy Gandy, Lamont Gandy and Antoine Byers; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Blanche Sawyer and Hannah Huff; five brothers: Author Gandy, James Gandy, Willie Gandy, Arron Gandy and Calhoun Gandy and a hostof nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
