IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Merry
Craven
May 31, 1963 – December 19, 2025
Merry Rachel Walker Craven, 62, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 19, 2025 in Lexington, North Carolina. She was born on May 31, 1963 to the late Tommie Jean Walker and Roosevelt Walker, Sr.
Merry was a 1981 graduate of Lexington Senior High School. For 16 years, she served with dedication and compassion as a Teacher's Assistant at Pickett Elementary School, where she was loved by students and staff alike. She enjoyed listening to Old School and Gospel music. Among her favorites were "A Song for Momma," "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday," and "Jesus Will."
Affectionately known as "Mina," she deeply loved and adored her two beautiful granddaughters, Liyah and Layna, who she lovingly called her "babies." Spending time with them brought her the greatest joy. Together they shared special moments at IHOP, McDonald's, Starbucks and afternoons at the park—memories her family will forever treasure.
Merry's spiritual foundation began early in life while attending Deliverance Tabernacle Church and New Zion Baptist Church. She later became a devoted member of New Life, where her faith continued to grow. She served faithfully and with a servant's heart on the Usher Board, Gospel Choir, Kitchen Committee, Missionary Board, Inspiration Dance Ministry and as a member of Sisters United in Christ.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Anthony Jerrod (her "Son Shine"); her daughter-in-love, Keri Craven; her granddaughters, Harmony Aaliyah and Alayna Quinn; her brothers, Raymond Walker and Roosevelt Walker, Jr.; her sisters, Maolia Walker and Nadine Walker; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
Merry will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, her love for family and the joy she brought into the lives of others. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday at New Life Worship Center, with family visitation beginning at 3:00 PM and the service following at 4:00 PM.
