Michael Wayne Danzy, affectionately known as "Drummerboy", 37, of Lula Street, Winston Salem, North Carolina gained his wings on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Mike made his grand entrance into the world July 28, 1984 to John Henry Buxton, Jr. and Renee Danzy in Forsyth County North Carolina.
He attended the local Winston-Salem Forsyth County Public Schools and was a 2005 graduate from Carter Vocational. Mike had a passion for playing and singing for the Lord and was a member of two quartet singing groups, The Gospel Spirits and The Gospel Truth. He loved a reason to dress up and put on a tie and found joy in serving and praising the Lord while looking good. He enjoyed a root beer, holding newborn babies, having a girlfriend in every building, and hitting the drums with his brother/cousin, Leon.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Buxton, Jr.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving grandmother and lifetime caregiver, Earline Darr; mother, Renee Danzy; brother, Chris Walls; sister, Anjuli; his fahters side: aunts; Julia Byrd who was also his lifetime caregiver, Johnny Mae Haywood, Joree Correll; a niece; and a host of cousins raised as his brothers and sisters; mothers side: grandmother, Virgel Lee Danzy; uncle Simon; two aunts, Bell and Janice, and a host of cousins; godmother, Delander McCoy and his close friends.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be conducted 1:30 P.M. Sunday, July 31, 2022 at First Waughtown Baptist Church, 838 Moravia Street, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27107 with Dr. Dennis W. Bishop officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service. A public viewing will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Facial coverings and/or masks are required for the services.
