IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Milton
Holmes
August 15, 1943 – February 12, 2022
Milton "Benny" Holmes passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Duke Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina.
Benny was born August 15, 1943, a son of the late Willie Holmes and Christine Savannah Reid Holmes Frazier in Davidson County, North Carolina. He retired from Gordon Veneer after over 40 years. He was a former member of Files Chapel Baptist Church.
Benny enjoyed bowling, watching westerns on television, especially if Clint Eastwood, John Wayne or Sidney Poitier were in them. His passion for food showed up in his cooking. Benny was well-loved and loved everybody.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joe Holmes; a son, James Adams; two daughters, Danna Holmes Smalley and Joannie Dukes; step-father, Ervin Frazier; three brothers: Willie, Thurman and Albert Holmes; a sister, Virginia Ann Dukes and a step-brother, James Frazier.
He leaves to cherish fond memories for a life well-lived, three sons: Marlon Holmes, Jeffrey Dukes, and David Ray (Arlene) Banks; a daughter, Cathy Bobo; two brothers, Grady Holmes and Alfred Holmes; a sister, Mattie Mack; three step-brothers, Billy Frazier, Norman Frazier and Terry Frazier; two-step sisters, Shelia Frazier and Brenda Dewitt; two grandchildren who were reared in the home, Rokeea (Lamont) Willis and Raecine (Michael) Smalley Charles; thirteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Adams; sisters-in-law: Esther Neely, Gladys Adams, Valerie Watkins and Nikkita Watkins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
