Reverend Mose Eaddy, son of the late Hampton and Fannie Eaddy, was born October 10, 1928, in Florence, South Carolina. His Heavenly Father called him home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, aboard the "Morning Train."
Reverend Eaddy was one of six children. He confessed Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Aimwell Baptist Church in South Carolina. He was educated in the local school system of Johnsonville, SC. Later in life he moved to Thomasville, NC where he and his wife raised their four children. He retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries after 37 years of service. In July of 1976, he preached his trial sermon at Friendship Baptist Church and delivered a soul-stirring sermon. That trial sermon led him on a journey of fellowship and delivering the Word of the Lord at various churches in the surrounding area and South Carolina. On this journey, he became known as the minister that talked "slow and easy" and at times "real plain." He would later become the pastor of Cunningham First Baptist Church where he served as pastor for 16 years and 9 months. Under the guidance of his thunderous vocals,"Cunningham" crafted a unique sound of beautiful harmonies that he adored and would often reflect upon. He enjoyed singing or simply humming a tune and was known to do so at any time of day.He was a loving father and grandfather and a strong man of faith who took extremely good care of his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Issac and Macory Eaddy; a sister, Mary McCown and one great grandson, Quinton Carpenter.
He leaves to cherish his memory , his wife of 66 years, Mary Eaddy; sons, Willie Eaddy (Mae) of Rochester, PA and Harry Eaddy (Linda) of Denton TX; daughters,Helen Carpenter (Javan) and Janice Jones (Ronald) both of Thomasville; brother, Dwight Eaddy (Mary) of Lexington, NC and sister, Odessa Taylor of Thomasville NC;13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
