General Elder Nathaniel Pendergrass of Lexington, North Carolina was called to eternal rest on Sunday, October 2, 2022.
A public viewing will occur on Thursday, October 6 from 1-6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service, 701 N. Main St., Lexington, NC. The homegoing service will be held on Friday, October 7 at 1:00 p.m. with viewing from 12:30 – 1 p.m. at The House of God Church, 275 Walser Rd., Lexington, NC.
General Elder Pendergrass was born in Williamsburg County, SC on May 27, 1935 to Elder Felix and Deaconess Georgianna Pendergrass. He served over 54 years as pastor of The House of God Church, Keith Dominion, Lexington, NC. He was employed with Frank Ix and Sons Textiles for several decades and with Lexington Furniture Industries for more than 10 years. He enjoyed farming, sold his produce at local farmers markets and donated fresh fruits and vegetables to homeless shelters, families and friends.
General Elder Pendergrass was preceded in death by his father, Elder Felix Pendergrass and his mother, Deaconess Georgianna Pendergrass; two sons, William Felix Pendergrass and Kevin (Mary) Pendergrass; seven brothers: Joshua (Verna Lee) Pendergrass, Ishmael Pendergrass, Lorenza Pendergrass, Elijah Pendergrass, Felix (Ada) Pendergrass, Jr., Isaac (Nora) Pendergrass, and Joseph Pendergrass; and one sister, Deaconess Magdalene Pendergrass.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Barbara Pendergrass of the home and daughters Sabrina Pendergrass of the home and Charlottesville, VA and Alisha Pendergrass of the home and Spencer, NC; his sons: Nathaniel Pendergrass, Jr. of Bronx, NY, Victor Pendergrass of Charlotte, NC and Eric Pendergrass of Lexington, NC; his daughters: Iva Holland of Lexington, NC, Deborah (Roland) Craver of Lexington, NC, Georgia Hilliard of Fayetteville, NC, Keith (Al) Victoria of Kernersville, NC; his step-son, Alvin Bailey of Winston Salem, NC; his sisters: Evangelist Elizabeth White of Rocky Mount, NC, Deaconess Naomi (Elder Eston) Wells of Florence, SC, Rebecca Scipio of Darlington, SC and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.
