On June 21, 2025, Oscar Lee Harris, Jr. peacefully went home to be with the Lord. He was born on May 2, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Oscar Lee Harris, Sr. and Sindy Louise Hawkins.
Affectionately known as "Roc," Oscar was known for his sharp style and love for golf. He retired from the City of Winston-Salem Coliseum where he was a dedicated and valued employee.
Oscar was a faithful member of New Hope Holiness Church under the leadership of the Honorable Bishop S.T. Green. He served faithfully on the Deacon Board and as part of the church security team until his health began to decline.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph Harris; brother-in-law, James Abbitt; a nephew, David Sim; and a niece, Nancy Stiller.
Cherishing his memory are his son, Oscar Lee Jordan; daughter, Felisa Jordan-Coates; seven siblings: David (Louise) Heilig, Charles (Deb) Heilig, all of Winston-Salem; Glenn (Mary) Heilig of Salisbury, NC; Mae Porter, Brenda Sims, Johnnie Mae (Bary) Damon, all of Winston-Salem; and Deloris Abbitt of Salisbury. He is also survived by six granddaughters, one grandson, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and dear friends; a special and devoted niece, Marquitta Sims-Allen, held a particularly close place in his heart.
The Homegoing Service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at New Hope Holiness Church, with family visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Public viewing will take place on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service, Lexington.
