Obituary

A TIME TO BE BORN:Oscar Lynn Young affectionately known as Charlie Brown was born January 30, 1971 to Oscar Blackwell and Linda Blackwell.

A TIME TO DIE: On Friday, July2, 2021 he departed this life in Winston-Salem, NC at the age of 50.

A TIME TO PLANT: A 1989 graduate of Davie High School, Mocksville, Oscar was a CDL Truck Driver, but was well-known for his skills as a Master Auto Mechanic and saw man.

A TIME TO PLUCK: He was a former employee of Hicks Farm until one day he decided it was time to use his God given talents as a mechanic which he then went into business for himself.

A TIME TO LAUGH: Charlie loved to make people laugh. Even when times were hard or bad for someone, he always found a way to make people laugh when they wanted to cry.

A TIME TO DANCE: He would always laugh and dance around to illustrate the play by play of whatever particular event that occurred he found hilarious.

A TIME TO MORN: Charlie is preceded in death by his father, Oscar Blackwell.

A TIME TO REMEMBER: He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Linda Blackwell; a son, Grayson Ward, Winston-Salem; stepdaughter, Deja Keaton, Mocksville; five sisters: Frances Young Tyson and Carolyn (Juan) Mussen, both of Mocksville, Linda Rena Young, Starkville, MS , Eunice (Richard) Campbell and Tamla Long, both Winston-Salem; nieces and nephews raised more like siblings:Destiny Young, Joshua Young, Neriyah Johnson, Tyesha Brookes, Latisha Young, Jonathan Johnson, and Darren Johnson; a special friend, Felicia Potter, Mocksville, NC;three aunts: Frances Fowler, Mocksville, NC; Delia Clement, Redland, NC and Brenda Cuthbertson, Cleveland, NC; four uncles, Leo Pruitt, Mocksville, NC; Wilbert Blackwell, Redland, NC; David (Libby) Blackwell, Cleveland, NC and Norman Blackwell, Winston-Salem, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday at Roberts Chapel at 1:30pm with family visitation at 12:30.Burial will follow at Erwin temple CME Church Cemetery.Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00-6:00pm at Roberts Chapel.
