On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, Peggy Ann Gilley Wagner quietly left on her well-planned journey to her new home in Glory where she is in fellowship with the Lord, her beloved family and friends. In sweet peace, she departed from this life of 69 years at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center. In Davidson County on May 8, 1953, Peggy Ann Gilley was born to Joel Gilley, Sr. and Catherine Glenn Gilley.
She was educated in the Lexington City School System and graduated form Lexington Senior High School and later attended Davidson County Community College. She served in the United States Army and retired from Lexington Memorial Hospital (Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center). Elder Wagner was a faithful member of Lexington Deliverance Tabernacle where she served on the ministerial staff, pastor's aide, nursing ministry, as church secretary, trustee, armor bearer and in numerous other capacities.
She was loyal and devoted to her family. She cherished every moment with her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy L. Wagner; a son, Roy Wagner, Jr.; two brothers, Joel Gilley, Jr. and David Waldon and a sister, Alice Mae Bowens.
Peggy was dearly beloved and mourned by her children: Amanda (Eric) Davis, Tron (Dena) Wagner, Tad Wagner and Keyona Rhone; 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; five brothers: Larry (Peggy) Gilley, Bryce (Charlotta) Gilley, Billy Joe (Gladys) Gilley, Terry Gilley and Gary Gilley; a sister, Betty Jean (Timothy) Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Lexington Deliverance Tabernacle with family visitation at 12:30 P.M. Burial will be September 27, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors. Public viewing will be Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service.
