Phillip Leon "Scooter" Perkins, 67, of S. Pennington Ave. was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 22, 2016 following a lengthy illness.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church with family visitation a half hour before the service.
Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service.
Scooter, as he was affectionately known, was born on August 18, 1948 in Hillsborough, North Carolina to Leroy and Alice Gertrude Riley Perkins. He was educated in the Lexington City School System and attended Dunbar High School.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by two daughters, Dawn Everette and Philana Janel Perkins; three sisters, Annie "Polly" Jones, Inetta "Petey" Currie and Jean P. Hargrave.
Phillip leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughter, Erica (Tarrell) Perkins- Rowe of Greensboro, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Malaunia "Bre" (Xavier) Barber of Fort Hood, Texas; four sisters: Lena "Sally Gal" Perkins, Jane "Sis" Long, Melinda Terry and Barbara Shoaf; a self-sacrificing brother, Robert Perkins; one generously devoted cousin, Scott Perkins, beloved niece whom he adored, Allison H. Vinson and dedicated friend, Norman "Pole Cat" Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
