Rachel Jane Dulin Carson was born February 14, 1936, as the only child of the late Charlie Dulin and the late Kathelean Dulin Flint. She departed this life on November 17, 2023 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
She joined Shiloh Baptist Church at the age of 12 and was baptized by Reverend George W. Campbell. She was a former member of the choir, the Usher Board, Pastor's Aide, Trustee Board, missionary, women's fellowship, and church treasurer.
Rachel attended the public schools of Davie County, graduating in1953 from the Davie County Training School. She was employed at Burlington Industries for 23 years.
She loved her husband, family, and friends dearly. She enjoyed cooking and traveling with her friends and family. She had a contagious smile that filled others with joy everywhere she went. She will be remembered by her generosity, kindness, and love for everyone she met.
She was united in marriage to William Edward Carson of which two daughters were born: Chiquita Renee and Althea Valetta. He preceded her in death, February 25, 1997. Along with her sisters Addie Bell, Mildred Blackwell, Geneva Foote, Willie Mae Smoot "Dede", and Zelda Naylor; daughters, Janie Carson Belton, Barbara Carson Mason, granddaughter Amber Jefferies, and son Wayne Ijames.
Her life will forever be cherished and remembered by her four daughters: Renee Carson and Althea Carson, both of Mocksville, North Carolina, Jacqueline (Arthur) Carson-Bond, Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Sally Carson, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two sons: William Carson Jr. and Michael David Carson, both of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; one sister: Betty Frost of Mocksville, North Carolina; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
