Mrs. Rachel Lee Carter Cross, 88, of NC Hwy 8, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at her residence.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 12:00 Noon at New Smith Grove Baptist Church with family visitation an hour before the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1-8pm at Roberts Funeral Service.

She was born January 1, 1926 in Forsyth County to Mahlon and Emma Carter. Mrs. Cross was a member of New Smith Grove Baptist Church and severed as a member of the senior choir, President of the Deaconess Board, Missionary Board, trustee board and a past member of the usher board. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph C. Cross and a son, Curtis D. Cross.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Ernest (Willie) Cross of Montgomery and Kenneth (Patricia) Cross of East Spencer, NC; two daughters, Marion Cross-Young of Clemmons, NC and Audrey Y. (Howard) McPhail of Hattieburg, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
