Mrs. Rachel Petty Smith, 88, of New Haven Dr., died on September 7, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on January 17, 1930, in Gaffney, SC to Nora Petty Poole and Will Poole. She retired from PPG Industries and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Oscar Smith; two grandchildren, Sandy Gail Click and Rena Renee Smith and two brothers, Ivey Petty, Sr. and Lewis Petty.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her four sons: Joe (Lucy) Poole, Charles Poole, George (Teresa) Smith and Teddy (Sandra) Smith; five daughters: Lettie F. Williams, Julia Littlejohn, Mary Hines, Minnie Smith and Joyce Smith; 27 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great grandchildren and a great-great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Files Chapel Baptist Church with family visitation at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.
