Obituary

Jesus said to him, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. ….” John 11:25-26


Mr. Raymond Thomas Carroll began his earthly life on April 4, 1951, and the Lord sent for one of his most precious angels to take flight for his heavenly home on July 28, 2026, at his home. Mr. Carroll was born to the late Odell McKinley Carroll and Roxie Flynt Carroll in Guilford County, North Carolina.

Mr. Carroll was a graduate of the former Central High School in Forsyth County, Class of 1970 and later enlisted in the United States Army from 1970-1973. Mr. Carroll then gained employment with the City of Winston-Salem Sanitation Division until his retirement; however he returned to on a part-time basis a few years later. Mr. Carroll was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC until his health declined.

Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his three sisters, Mary Rice, Levolia Satterfield, and Beatrice Willis; and his five brothers, James E. Flynt, Cleo Carroll, Tyrone Carroll, Jimmy Carroll, and Paul Carroll.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Thelma Elaine Carroll; two sons, Travis Lee Carroll of Lexington, North Carolina, and Richard Stewart (Asia) of the home; two daughters, Angelica Burnett (Jamie) and Jilmetra McGriff, both of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a host of grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Carroll (Sharon) of Walkertown, North Carolina; three sisters, Ruby Carroll Hairston of Walnut Cove, North Carolina, Arlene Carroll of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Dorothy Carroll-Bruton of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Carroll of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Janet Carroll of Walkertown, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
