Rebecca Pearl Presnell Tester, 100, was born December 29, 1922 in Watauga County. She was the daughter of the late Paul Presnell and Oka Heaton Presnell.


Pearl was a homemaker for most of her life and was a true Southern Lady with a fiery nature. She loved traveling, music and Nascar racing with Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver. Pearl was a grandmother to the children that lived around her, sharing with them stories of her childhood in the Watauga mountains.


She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Ann Holshouser and a son, Rev. Steven Paul Tester.


Pearl leaves behind to cherish her memory three daughters: Margaret Trivette and husband, Rev. Richard Trivette of Banner Elk, NC, Charlene Laws and husband, Steven R. Laws of Linwood, NC and Rachel Ashby and husband, Kevin W. Ashby of Salisbury, NC; a son, Charlie H. Tester of Lexington. Pearl is loved and cherished by her 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.


A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
