In Loving Memory of Regina Levette Johnson Moore
September 7, 1958 - September 5, 2024
Our beloved mother, Regina Levette Johnson Moore, affectionately known as "Gina," entered eternal rest unexpectedly on the morning of September 5, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Born on Sunday, September 7, 1958 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Reverend Leroy and Juanita Johnson, Regina was raised in a home rooted in faith. She accepted Christ at the tender age of eleven and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church. A proud graduate of North Forsyth High School, class of 1977, Regina remained deeply connected to her faith community as a lifelong member of Saint Peter's World Outreach Center in Winston-Salem.
Regina was married to Carl Moore, Sr., with whom she shared the joy of raising three beautiful children. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend whose love and guidance touched many lives.
Regina's life was one of service and compassion. She discovered her calling for counseling while working as a school bus driver for Forsyth County Schools, where she was a beacon of support for the students she transported. During this time, she earned an A.A. in Business Administration from Forsyth Technical Community College, a B.A. in Political Science from Winston-Salem State University and an M.A. in Counselor Education from North Carolina A&T University.
After relocating to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Regina continued her mission of helping others, dedicating over two decades as a mental health professional. In 2017, she founded Creating a New Chapter, a counseling service that provided critical support to those in need. Regina's unwavering faith, kindness and heartfelt commitment to improving the lives of others will leave an enduring legacy.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her sisters, Franceria Johnson and Ramona Eller. Regina's memory is cherished by her children: Unicecia Johnson, Franceria Moore-Maxwell (Kelly) and Carl Moore, Jr. (Sherell); her grandchildren: Jawuan Johnson, Kryshonta Johnson, Raevan Johnson, Saquarius Wilson, Carrion Moore, Camiah Moore, Imani Eller-Maxwell; her great-granddaughter, Kavaeh Johnson; her siblings: Irene Rush (Ronnie), Jeff Johnson (Debbie), Saundra McDougald, and Rosalinda Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
Her warmth, wisdom and generosity will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
A Service of Joyous Celebration will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at St. Peter's World Outreach Center with family visitation at 11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville, North Carolina.
