Richard Addison Ridgill was born December 4, 1950 to the late Garfield Ridgill and Odessa Catherine A. Ridgill in Winston-Salem, NC and raised in Lewisville, NC. Richard was also preceded in death by his siblings: Katherine Wandella Ridgill-Rice, Jerry Ridgill, Gail Ridgill, Kenneth Ridgill, Denise Ridgill, Michael Ridgill and Edward Ridgill.
Richard attended West Forsyth High School where he played football and baseball. He also attended Carver High School. He entered the US Army on March 20, 1968 and was Honorably Discharged on March 19, 1971 due to an injury. While in service, Richard received the National Defense Service Medal.
Some of Richard's favorite pastimes were fishing and traveling with his friends and family to the coast and to local lakes all over NC. Other pastimes he enjoyed were hunting, cooking, music and baseball. While living in Massachusetts, Richard also participated with an award-winning City League Softball Team.
Richard worked as a brick mason and for the US Postal Service. He was a member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church where he humbly and faithfully served in the Kitchen Ministry, helping to feed the souls of others on countless occasions.
Richard loved his family! Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Rochelle (Michael) Trollinger; his only grandson, Isaiah Michael Trollinger; sister, Janice Ridgill; aunts, Sarah Ridgill and Patricia Fleming; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Homegoing celebration honoring his life and legacy will be conducted 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with family moments of visitation at 11:00 A.M. prior to the hour of celebration. Public viewing will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will take place Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors.
