On January 28, 2023, Mr. Robert "June or June Jap" Johnson Jr. answered his final phone call from the love of his life Ms. Sharon L. Gaither and joined her in the thereafter.
The third born to the late Robert "Diamond" and Nellie M. Wood Johnson Sr. in Rowan County, he was reared by his grandmother the late Annie Perkins Wood. He was a 1974 graduate of East Rowan High School, Salisbury, North Carolina.
June as he was affectionately known, was employed for several years with Lexington Home Brands Plant I (formerly Dixie Furniture) and QST Industries. His last place of employment until his retirement was with Miller's Restaurant, Mocksville, North Carolina where his patron's enjoy seeing his infectious smile which light up the room the moment he walked in and his comedic personality made everyone laugh! Robert loved to ride motorcycles and fish. Although God never blessed him with children of his own, he was a father figure to eight nieces, one nephew, a host of great nieces and nephews and was even blessed to have a host great-great nieces and nephews to carry on his legacy.
A life filled with warmth, and loving memories will forever be treasured by his family and friends. Those who survive are: three sisters: Margret Johnson Rankin and Rosalind Johnson McElhaney, both of Salisbury, North Carolina and Liz (Chris) Johnson, Mocksville, North Carolina; a brother, Michael Johnson, Salisbury, North Carolina; a host of aunts and uncles; best friend and road dog, Eric Peebles; fur baby, Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Roberts Chapel-Mocksville with family receiving friends 30 minutes prior to service time.
