Robert Lawter was born on August 6, 1938 in Polk County to the late Eva Pearl Mayfield Laughter and James Bynum Laughter. He entered eternal rest on December 30, 2025 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.

Robert was a faithful member of Freedom Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James Lawter and Clifford Lawter; and his sister, Mary Tucker.

He leaves to cherish his memory a dear friend, Dennis Ford, along with a host of nieces, nephews and his beloved church family.

A service will be Wednesday at 4:00pm at Roberts Funeral Service.
