Roger Lee Nelson, 55, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina transitioned from the earthly life into eternal life on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.

He was born February 4, 1964 in Winston-Salem, NC. Following his attendance at West Forsyth HS, he served his country as a member of the Army Reserves. An employee of Dean's Food, Roger was known as a hard working, humble, gentle soul whose ever present smile radiated a room. An avid Dallas Cowboys and Tar Heel fan, Roger will be remembered for his loving nature, goofy sense of humor, and his ability to see the good in the people who loved him throughout his life.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Richardson and survived by his 7 children: Talisa Barber, RaSean Hall, Keairra Hall, Terell Barber, Amarri Nelson, Kameron Mauldin and Kyle Sellars. He was also a father figure for two additional sons, Tramane Hall and Fredrick Turner.

Roger will also be missed by his grandchildren: Shavar Page, Jr., Bayleigh Anderson, Jalayah Rhynes, Zyhir Willis; his surviving siblings: Anthony Nelson, Tania Patterson, Priscilla Holly and his adoring nieces and nephews.

The Celebration of Life will commence at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2019 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel (Winston-Salem) with family moments of visitation at 1:30 p.m. Roger will find earthly rest in the serenity of Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date. His remains shall lie in state Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem.
