Mrs. Rosa Mae Wilkie Koontz, 85, of Thomasville, passed away on June 12, 2026, at Abbotts Creek Nursing Home.
Born on February 1, 1941, in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Daniel Frank Wilkie and Amanda Rosetta Barmore Wilkie.
Mrs. Koontz retired from Young & Hinkle Furniture after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where she lovingly served as one of the church mothers.
She enjoyed working puzzles, traveling, shopping, and watching Steve Harvey. She was also a fan of the television shows Family Matters and The Andy Griffith Show.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lornell Koontz; her sister, Mildred Puryear; her brothers, Leon Barmore and John Frank Wilkie, a son-in-law, Ray Holmes and a brother-in-law, Robert Williams.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four daughters, Bishop Frankie (Deforest) LaGrone, Amanda (Lawrence) Wilson, Debra Portfield, and Sarah Holmes; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, James E. (Sherrie) Wilkie; her sister, Lelia Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Mrs. Koontz will be remembered for her faith, devotion to her family, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
