Mrs. Ruby "Bert" Hawkins Vaughters, 83, of Osprey Trial, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Trinity Glen in Winston-Salem.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 1:00pm at Files Chapel Baptist Church with family visitation a half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.
Public viewing will be Tuesday from 1-8pm at Roberts Funeral Service.
She was born on February 15, 1932 in Rowan County to the late James H. and Laura Hawkins. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris L. Vaughters; a daughter, Patricia Hawkins; three sisters, Cindy H. Heilig, Geraldine H. Sloan and Evelyn Hawkins and five brothers, Charles, Ed, Wilbert, Lester and Garfield.
She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Willie Lee (Delores) Vaughters of Southmont, Gordon Vaughters of Norwich, Ct., Gil (Lavonnie) Vaughters of New Britain, Ct. and Jerome (Gloria) Vaughters of Winston-Salem; daughters, Kay Vaughters of New Britain, Ct., Mary Vaughters of Middleton, Ct. and Loretta Vaughters of the home; a brother, Charles Hawkins of Salisbury; a brother-in-law, Horace Vaughters of Cleveland; a sister-in-law, Marietta V. Neely of Salisbury; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
