Rufus July Hunter, 67, of Carter Grove Rd., passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Hinkle Hospice House.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 6:30pm at First Baptist Church on Village Dr. with family visitation a half hour before the service. Burial will be Friday at 10:00 am at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors.

Public viewing will be Wednesday from 4-8pm and Thursday from 8:30-4pm at Roberts Funeral Service.

He was born on August 5, 1947 in Davie County to Rufus Hunter and Alberta Odessa Woodberry Hunter. He was a member of Meeting Room Baptist Church and served on the trustee board. He served in the US Army and was a member of Banks Miller Post 255 and Davidson County Honor Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Janice Hunter; four sons, Rufus Hunter, Andre Friday, Shawn Vereen and Geoffrey Hunter; two daughters, Melissa (Wayne) Tedder and Kim McWilliams; five sisters, Roberta Hunter, Mildred (Johnny) Terry, Barbara Hunter, Mattie L. Hunter and Marsha (Edward) Pate; 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
