Ruth Lee McGill Horton, 87, of Village Dr., passed on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Wake Forest Baptist Health Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

She was born in Gaffney, South Carolina on November 10, 1929, to Mae McGill. She was retired from Dixie Furniture Industries.

Ruth was preceded in death by her mother; a son, Clarence Wesley Horton; a daughter, Carolyn Faye Horton; two grandchildren; a brother, Homer McGill and three sisters: Mae Houey, Sophia Johnson and Alberta Jeffries.

She leaves to cherish very precious memories her loving husband of 68 years, Sam Horton; two sons, Sammy L. Horton and David Horton; two daughters, Patricia Horton and Brenda Mae Horton; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; six brothers: Charles (Mary) McGill, Frank McGill, James McGill, Bobby McGill, William (Louise) McGill, Billy Wayne McGill; three sisters: Betty Houey, Dorothy Boyd and Carolyn (Earl) Posey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Village Dr. with family visitation at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
