Samuel "Sam" Horton, Jr. was born on July 3, 1928, to Samuel and Lily (Ratchford) Horton and transitioned to his eternal life after a brief illness on December 20, 2023, at home.
Sam was born in Winston Salem, South Carolina. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Village Dr. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth McGill Horton; a son, Clarence Wesley Horton; a daughter, Carolyn Faye Horton; three grandchildren, Sean Fuller, Delilah Horton and Deonna Bandy; his siblings: Minnie Blenman, Ralph Horton, Floyd Horton, Thomas Horton, Clarence Horton, Willie Ray Horton, Ronnie Horton and James B. Horton.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Sammie (Trish) Horton and David Horton; two daughters, Patricia Horton and Brenda Mae Horton; 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; three siblings: Vivian Miller, Charles Horton and Roy Horton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Village Dr. at 2:00pm with family visitation at 1:30pm. Interment will follow at South Lexington City Cemetery.
