Mrs. Shirley Tate Peoples, 77, died Thursday, February 4, 2021.

A private service will be held on Monday with family visitation from 1:30-2:00pm at Roberts Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery. A public viewing will be Sunday from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Roberts Funeral Service, Lexington.

She was born April 2, 1943 to Lloyd Tate, Sr. and Charlotte Wilson Tate in Davidson County.She retired from Dixie Furniture Plant 1.She was a member of Union Baptist Church where she served on the missionary circle and sang in the senior choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lemuel Peoples, Sr.; two brothers, Raymond Tate and Lloyd Tate, Jr.; five sisters: Mary Holmes, Bennie Mae Tate, Nola Ann Tate, Glenda Tate and Brenda Horton.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Lemuel Peoples, Jr., Dr. Charlotte R. (Dr. Tyrant) Daveport and Dr. Pam (Robert, Jr.) Peoples Joyner; a nephew who was like a son, Calvin (Janice) Tate; a sister, Frances Elaine Tate; seven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
