Sonny Gathings was born on June 3, 1973 in Davidson County to Roger Gathings, Sr. and Anne Barnes Curry, and was lovingly reared by his grandmother, Virginia Beckham Gathings. He passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Sonny was a member of Lexington Church of God. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger D. Gathings, Sr.; his wife, Brenda Gathings; and his brother, Cody Gathings.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Anne B. (Doug) Curry; his twin sister, Cher (John) Chavis; three brothers: Shane Gathings, Matthew Gathings and Roger Dale Gathings, Jr.; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service, with the memorial service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
