Susie Roberta Schoefield Nelson, 82, of Winston-Salem, NC, slipped away from this earthly world of care on Saturday, May 9, 2020 to be with the Lord.

She began her days upon this earth on June 17, 1937 in Henry County, Virginia.She was born to the late Edward Schoefield and Minnie Ann Bullard Schoefield.

Susie, affectionately known as "Betty," was educated in the local Henry County Schools.She was employed with Polar Plastics.In her leisure time she had great zeal for dancing and reading but especially the Bible.Susie, being a woman of great wisdom, understood her life wasn't complete without God; thus, she was of the Holiness faith and a devout member of the Church of Philadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Nelson;parents, Edward and Minnie Ann Schoefield, Sr.; her two daughters, Shirley Millner, Vickie Nelson; two brothers, Henry Schoefield, Edward Schoefield, Jr.; three sisters: Katie Schoefield, Helen Schoefield and Dorothy Nicholson.

Those left to cherish her life are her children: Ernest Schoefield, Barbara Schoefield, Mary Schoefield, Susan Schoefield, Rickye Nelson, David Nelson, Tyrone Nelson and Takila Myers; thirteen grandchildren: Donald Richardson, Doneilvan Schoefield, Lakisha Scales, Detorian Schoefield, Zanya Schoefield, Raesheia Singleton, Telisha Horne, ShawannaRichardson, Derrick Schoefield, Joshua Nelson, Steven Armstrong, Marie and Maurice Cager; eight great grandchildren: Darion Smith, Khamel Richardson, Sa'Va Richardson, Kabreyia Richardson, Jacob Richardson, Leland Russell, Tientan Horne Kelsey and Kaneka Robles; two brothers, Samuel Schoefield and Ike sSchoefield; four sisters: Ada Mormon, Deretha Rosemon, Mary Ann Wooten and Thelma Schoefield and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem Chapel.The family will hold a private funeral service on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
