Thomas Bernard Rogers, affectionately known as "Mr. T," was born on September 4, 1929, in Seneca, South Carolina, to the late Johnny Rogers and Nora Barton Rogers. He peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Hinkle Hospice House.
Mr. T was employed for many years at Stanley Furniture, from which he retired. A devoted member of New Zion Baptist Church, he faithfully served on the Usher Board and as the church custodian until his health began to decline.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nellie Rogers; his stepson, Ricky Holt; a brother, Eugene Rogers and two sisters, Jeanette R. Smith and Christine R. Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: Joyce Rogers, Rev. Gwen Robinson, and Donna Eller; two sons: Thomas Rogers and Tony Rogers; two stepdaughters: Janice Thompson and Harriett (James) Roberts; a stepson, Randall Crump; two brothers: John Rogers and Willie (Dorene) Rogers; one sister, Elnora Hairston; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at New Zion Baptist Church, with family visitation beginning at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday at Roberts Funeral Service from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
