Varner Lee Fortune, completed his life's journey on the evening of November 19, 2022 while a patient at Compass Healthcare, Spencer, North Carolina. He was born May 20, 1955 in Davidson County, North Carolina and was the son of Ada Fortune Creamer. As we reflect on our beloved's life, we find strength in knowing that he no longer suffers and that he is now at rest. His presence is no longer amongst us, but his memory shall forever live on in our hearts.

He was educated in the Davidson County public school system. He was employed with the City of Lexington, Sanitation Department, Lexington, North Carolina.

His church affiliation was with the United House of Prayer for All People, Lexington, North Carolina. Varner enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a great conversationalist who enjoyed talking with people. He never met a stranger and was always fun-loving.

Our beloved Varner's memory will forever live in the hearts of his sister, Margaret Ann Creamer Pumphrey; two aunts, Virginia (John) Gillespy and Lillie Mae Fortune; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, November 28, 2022 at Roberts Funeral Service (Lexington). Public viewing will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 1:00 PM -4:00 PM at the funeral home. Facial coverings and/or masks are required for the services.
