Mr. Vernon D. Leverett, 74, of Briggstown Rd., passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at his residence.

The funeral service will be on Thursday at 12:00 Noon at Union Baptist Church, with family visitation a half hour before the service. Rev. Darrell Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors at 2:00p.m.

He was born on April 10, 1943, in Davidson County to Dorris and Margaret Leverett. Vernon retired from Elizabeth Carbide and also served honorably in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason Leverett.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley Leverett of the home; three children: Djuana Leverett of Salisbury, Malory Leverett of Thomasville and Uvonne Leverett of Nashville, TN; a sister, Grace Carney; two brothers, Alphonso Williams of Durham, NC and JC (Daisy) Woodard of Chester, SC; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
