Obituary

The Everlasting and all Wise God has removed from our midst, our beloved Mrs. Vivian Miles Cunningham, 74, on Monday April 7, 2025. She was born on July 7, 1950 to Leroy and Jewell Miles.

Affectionately known as "Bip", which derived from the nickname "Bip Mo" given to her from liking Biltmore Farms ice cream sandwiches as a child. She attended Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. She was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, where she served and performed many roles and duties.

Throughout her career, Vivian was employed by Lucia Sewing Plant; Cardinal Health; and last retired from Atrium Baptist Hospital as a unit secretary in the Stitch Center. More importantly, Vivian was always an entrepreneur throughout her life. Vivian in the past, had her own store front ceramic and craft shops in Winston-Salem, and was set up at Cook's Flea market along with her mother Jewell and sister Ninette, selling her arts and craft merchandise. Vivian loved her church family and Bible study which she continued to attend up until her passing. She enjoyed thrift shopping, crafts, old western TV shows, going to the beach, and puppies. She was committed to charitable work by donating for many years, 100 handmade greeting cards every month to the seniors at the Shepherd's Center.

Those caring cards brightened and enriched those seniors' lives immeasurably; Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Courtney Cunningham; her parents, Leroy C Miles and Jewell Dillinger Miles; sister, Ninette Dillinger Bass; and stepdaughter, Sharon Pryor.

She leaves to mourn her departure and celebrate her life, one sister, Juenelle Sawyer Cuthbertson and one brother, Lee Miles; great nephew, Shawn Sawyer, who was like a son; best friend of over 30 years, Juliet Odom; devoted friend, Willie Hill; and close friends, Marcia Enns, Deborah Franklin, Jackie Clagett, Patsy Bruton; and "stamping buddies", Alice Angell and Sandy Shriner; and a host of many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Vivian will be dearly missed by her community, church and her family. We will always treasure her memory and are comforted in the knowledge that she lives in the minds of all who knew her.
