IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vonshelia D.
Kirk Johnson
August 2, 1958 – December 15, 2024
VonShelia Kirk Johnson, 66, was born in Lexington, NC on August 2, 1958 to the late James and Vonnie Kirk. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
Affectionately called "Shelia" by family and friends and "She She" by her grandchildren, she was a member of the Lexington Senior High School Class of 1976. For decades she worked in various departments at Stanley Furniture and was a loyal, lifetime member of Union Baptist Church.
Known for her sweet spirit, Shelia was laid back, calm, steady, kind, supportive, generous and without complaints (despite her health challenges). She was a lover of family and according to her daughter, relished in "trying to keep up with her." The two of them spent countless days "riding out" to destinations near and far reveling in beautiful scenery, delicious food and sweet treats. Along with her mother-daughter adventures, Shelia enjoyed watching her "stories," visits from Shanette, lunch dates with Patty and chatting on the phone with her dear friend, the late Franklin Sylvon Hogan as well as Betty Jean, Fontaine, Theresa and Beverly.
Preceding Shelia in death were her parents James & Vonnie Kirk and her brothers, James Renard "Peasack" Kirk and Tony Patrick Kirk.
Left to cherish precious memories of Shelia are her faithful and dedicated daughter Beth (Brian) Johnson King; grandchildren, Jeremy & Ka'Myra Brown; brother, Gary Roseborough; nephew, Kelsey Kirk; sister-in-law, Phoebe Kirk; cousins who were more like sisters: Betty Jean (Jimmy) Hailey, Theresa Simmons & Fontaine Kirk Graham; lifelong neighbor and sister, Ninette "Patty" Diggs; "other daughter," Kassaundra Shanette Lockhart; best friend, Beverly Wilson; devoted friend, Roy Bush; lifelong neighbors, Lewis Michael and Jean Michael Reid; Lincoln Park family and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Friday at Union Baptist Church at 2:00pm with family visitation at 1:30pm. Burial will follow at South Lexington City Cemetery
