William Ray Elam, age 69, gave up time for Eternity on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 while a patient at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born August 28, 1955 in Iredell County, North Carolina. Lovingly known as "Ray" by family and friends, he was the son of the late William Jennings Elam and Francis Louise Cleghorn Elam. William was kind and easy going. His physical presence is no longer of this earth, but we will forever treasure his memory.

He attended the Iredell County public schools, graduating from Statesville High School in 1974. He was last employed with Dominio's Pizza. William enjoyed painting and was proud to show you his work when you visited him in his home. Keeping his family and close friend's vehicles detailed was a pleasure because he believed in a clean car.

His parents and siblings, Nancy Johnson, Margie Dollarhide and Linda Hill preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, William Lee Elam and Michael Ray Elam, both of Statesville, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Sophia Elam and Preston Elam; a special friend, Mary Elam of Statesville, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Service (Mocksville).
