William Darryl Grooms, affectionately known as Billy, 59, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2023 at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born on February 20, 1964 to the late Willie and Johnnie Mae Grooms.

He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Public Schools. He was previously employed by Liberty Hardware until his health failed. He has also been employed by Sara Lee/ Hanes Hosiery and CVS Pharmacy.

He leaves to cherish his memories six siblings: Willie Mae (Tommie) Scales, Johnny (Sharon) Grooms, Jimmy (Brenda) Grooms, Rose (James) McIlwain, Mark (Monica) Covington and Charlene Grooms; a special and devoted friend, Mrs. Valerie Brooke; four nieces and four nephews: Kenyan (Amber) Grooms, Carlos (Courtney) Grooms, Marco Grooms, Sharika Grooms, Desmond Grooms, Shania Scales, Kyra Grooms and Jada Glover and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A service of life will be conducted 12:00 P.M. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel with family visitation at 11:30 A.M. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
