Willie James Andrews, Jr., 81 of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday evening, June 4, 2025 at Trellis Supportive Care-Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. He was born on April 13, 1944 to the late Willie and Minnie Fortune Andrews, Sr. in Lynchburg, South Carolina.
Willie received his formal education from the local Lee County Public Schools. He was reared in a home rooted with spiritual discipline and thus at a young age, he joined Greenbay Missionary Baptist Church in Lynchburg, South Carolina where he fellowshipped until he relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After relocating North Carolina, Mr. Willie was employed with Winston-Salem Transit Authority as a Bus Driver until he retired. He loved the relaxation of casting a line while fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and friends. Willie touched so many with his smile and generosity; he maintained that smile until the end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Minnie Fortune Andrews, Sr., his beloved wife of 47 years, Carolyn Ann Andrews and his brothers, Luvern and Harry Andrews.
Most precious memories will be cherished by his loving children: Reginald Antoinio Thompson, Deborah Andrews (Leo) Farrington, Willette Andrews, Willie Andrews, III and Terry Andrews; five grandchildren: Leo Andrews, Krystal Farrington, Brandon Farrington, Alasha Ingram and Tasiana Andrews; five great grandchildren: Jaleel Robinson, Ka'Niyah Frasier, Kyrah Frasier, Elijah McCoy and Annaliyah Farrington; four sisters: Christine McDonald, Ella Mae Laws, Thomasenia Kennedy and Rosemary Michaels; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Willie's life will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church with moments of visitation at 11:30 AM until the hour of service. Interment and the service of committal will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A period of public viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the funeral home
