Just as a caterpillar emerges from its cocoon to transform into a beautiful butterfly, Zena L. Spikes gained her eternal wings on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 in Clemmons, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving nephew, Kevin Spikes and his wife, Felicia.

Born on November 11, 1962 in Atlanta, Georgia, Zena was the beloved daughter of the late Leonard Cecil Spikes, Sr. and Lillian Parks Spikes. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Leonard C. Spikes, Jr. and sister, Valerie Spikes.

Zena was educated in the Atlanta Public School System and graduated from Luther Judson Price High School. At an early age, she joined Macedonia Baptist Church of Atlanta, GA, where she became a member of the youth choir, an experience that helped shape her lifelong spiritual journey.

Zena’s love for family and friends was unmistakable. She cherished every moment spent in their company and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed playing BINGO, doing word searches, watching game shows, playing cards and tuning in to any show with a judge in it. A devoted sports fan, she proudly supported the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks. A lifelong learner, she loved reading, and she remained faithful in her daily devotion and prayer.

She leaves to cherish her memory: nephews Kevin A. Spikes (Felicia), Leonard C. Spikes III (Tiffany), Melvin Pearson (Dawn); niece, Kimberly Broadus; a host of great‑nephews and great‑nieces; a great‑great nephew who adored her; and her childhood best friend, Lisa Copeland.

Zena’s gentle spirit, unwavering faith and deep love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

The funeral Service will be Saturday at Roberts Funeral Service with family visitation at Noon and Funeral at 12:30pm.
