From the rising of the sun, Walter Charles Hogue, born to the late Charles James Hogue and Virginia Irene Fowler Hogue, began his journey of this life on November 17, 1957. To the setting of the sun, which completed his journey on February 27, 2026 while a patient at the Gordon Hospice House, Statesville, North Carolina, at which time he departed this earthly life to enter his life of eternity.
Walter, affectionately known as Speedy, greeted his fellowman with a smile and always enjoyed a lively conversation. We give thanks for a life well-lived.
Educated in the Rowan County Public School System, Speedy was a true entrepreneur and believed in working with his hands. He was last employed with Pruitt Construction Company. In his leisure, he enjoyed detailing cars, car shows, drag strips and cooking, especially on the grill. Speedy was loved by many, always the life of the party and was the community babysitter.
In addition to his parents, Speedy was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Hogue; a son, Jarvis T. Garner; a sister, Sheila M. Morrison; and a brother, James Geter.
Though his physical presence is gone, his spiritual presence shall forever be present and cherished by his three daughters: Adrian D. Hogue of Taylorsville, North Carolina, Ebony C. Hogue of Statesville, North Carolina and Latoya N. Abel of Salisbury, North Carolina; adopted daughter, Karess Arnold of Mocksville, North Carolina; eight grandchildren: Jarvis Jacobs, Zaiden Jacobs, Maddison Brooks, Tiana White, Khaleah Scott, Keiari Hogue, Justin Brown, Jr. and Alani Allen; two sisters, Wanda (Joseph) Foster of Cooleemee, North Carolina and Joyce Ann Bryant of New York, New York; a brother, Merrell (Emily) Hogue of Cleveland, North Carolina; three aunts: Evalena Patterson, Betty Hogue and Frances Fowler; best friends, Dave Everhart and Marvin Sullivan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We loved "Speedy" and he will be missed. Although his presence is no longer of this earth, his memory will forever remain in our hearts until we meet again.
Memorial service for Mr. Walter "Speedy" Hogue will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Roberts Funeral Service Chapel, Mocksville, North Carolina.
